ARTS Faculty Position (Design and Technical Theatre)
East Texas Baptist University seeks to fill a full-time position in
Theatre Arts (Design and Technical Theatre) beginning fall 2008. The
successful candidate will be expected to teach a rotation of design and
technical theatre courses; design various aspects of Department of
Theatre Arts productions; mentor and advise students; and work
collaboratively with other faculty to recruit students, develop
programs, and assist in the long-term growth of the department and
university including the development of a technical theatre track to the
undergraduate academic program. Additional responsibilities will
include the supervision of the theatre shops. Additional creative
activities such as directing productions will be assigned based on the
successful candidate’s interests and areas of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the position should hold a PhD, EdD, or MFA in Theatre
Arts; demonstrate experience in theatre activities in the higher
education and/or professional theatre environment; and have relevant
college/university teaching experience. The ideal candidate will
demonstrate a record of professional involvement and a desire to teach
in a Christian liberal arts institution. Additional consideration will
be given to candidates with background in the design and development of
theatre performing arts facilities. Candidates must have a strong
commitment to academic rigor and teaching, the ability to communicate
well with students and colleagues, an appreciation for Christian higher
education, and must demonstrate a personal Christian faith. ETBU
faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the
University via faculty meetings/workshops and by participating
in/attending student activities and events.
