  • Department of Theatre is seeking a Costumer/Shop Supervisor to begin August 2007 for a ten month position.  Responsibilities include designing/constructing two faculty directed productions for the Theater Dept., and additional work in theatre.  Duties also include training, advising students, teaching students basic sewing skills and costume crafts, and overseeing laboratory activities within the Costume Shop and other duties deemed appropriate. Hiring and supervising student technical assistants while insuring compliance with established professional standards; maintaining and overseeing loans from the costume collections, managing show and special events schedules; ensuring that the equipment is in working order and the shop is adequately stocked. Additional opportunity to teach two courses currently offered in costuming and where needed additional theatre courses for which the candidate is qualified.

  • Qualifications for this position include: strong sewing, draping and pattern drafting skills, experience in theatrical and dance costume construction, ability to train and supervise student workers, and ability to organize and maintain a growing costume collection. Experience with make up and hair a plus. The ideal candidate will have exceptional time management and organizational skills. A minimum of a BA/BFA in Costume Technology and/or a MFA or professional experience preferred.  If qualified, the candidate would teach two courses in costuming for the theatre department.
