COVENANT COLLEGE
Covenant College Department of Communications is looking to fill the
position of assistant/associate professor of theatre arts. The
position will involve teaching, supervision of student workers,
directing one musical and possibly one other show annually, in
addition to other duties as deemed appropriate. Terminal degree
required, broad experience in a variety of production elements –
acting, directing, technical work -- preferred. Strong ability to
integrate Christian thought and theatre practice a must.
Covenant College's theatre program is a growing one and we look to
find a candidate who will help us broaden our course offerings –
preferably in the areas of technical theatre and theatre
history/lit/crit – thus building a strong major. Our goal for our
students is to produce “missionaries to the theatre” -- i.e., people
skilled enough in their craft to work in the dramatic professions
and strong enough in their Christian thought, discipleship and love
to serve their hurting and broken colleagues in the theatre and film
worlds, while challenging and refreshing audiences and glorifying
the God of truth, goodness and beauty with their work. Covenant is
the denominational school of the Presbyterian Church in America and
as such seeks to integrate Christian worldview, particularly in it's
Reformed theological manifestation, into the form and content of all
course work.
