Assistant Professor of Technical Theatre
PURPOSE: Coordinate the technical aspects of main stage shows and studio
theater productions.
REPORTS TO: Chair, Communication Department
RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential job responsibilities include but are not
limited to: Design and deliver quality scenery for main stage shows and
studio theater productions. Supervise scene shop staff, student workers,
and scenic budgets. Maintain Fine Arts Proscenium Theatre and Studio
shop, stage, storage facilities, and equipment.
Work with faculty Artistic Director in overseeing technical and dress
rehearsals and performances.
Provide safety training for shop and stage student employees and student
crews. Teach a six credit load in Communication per semester. Secondary
job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide lighting,
sound, or scenic design as appropriate. Assist with development and
maintenance of shop budget. Assist with miscellaneous department duties
as requested by the Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education and Experience: MFA and professional
experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ability to interact with a variety of
individuals in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner , ability
to prioritize tasks, completing accurately and by predetermined
deadlines, knowledge and expertise in construction techniques and
computer drafting, strong interdepartmental communication and
collaboration skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
