ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR of Theatre
The successful candidate for
this position must demonstrate the ability to effectively teach
acting and directing at the undergraduate-level, direct both
undergraduate and graduate level actors in production, demonstrate a
solid commitment to scholarly and/or creative research, and hold an
MFA or Ph.D. in Theatre with a solid track-record in performance.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years full-time
teaching experience at the college/university level. Professional
acting & directing experience, union memberships are added value.
Primary responsibilities include teaching in the BA degree program
with possible assignments at the MA level. Teaching assignments will
be drawn from the following on a rotating basis: Intro to Theatre,
Acting, Directing, Theatre History, and Contemporary Trends in
Theatre. Secondary emphases such as Voice, Pantomime/Movement, and
Improvisation are added values. This position would require:
directing a minimum of one main stage production each academic year;
student advisement, possible supervision of MA capstone projects,
and regular participation on departmental, school, and university
committees. The Department is active with KCACTF aspires to
starting a professional summer stock company (AEA related) and URTA
membership. This position is effective fall 2008 and the salary and

Acting, Directing, and Theatre Ministry
The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate the ability to effectively teach acting and directing, direct graduate and undergraduate-level actors in
production, have a solid commitment to scholarly and/or creative research, and hold an MFA or Ph.D. in Theatre (with a performance emphasis)
preferably with experience in Theatre Ministry. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years full-time teaching experience at the
college/university level. Professional acting & directing experience, union memberships, and experience with theatre in Christian ministry are added
value. Primary responsibilities include teaching in the MA and MFA degree programs, including courses drawn from the following on a rotating basis:
Acting, Directing, Research & Aesthetics, and Theatre Ministry. Secondary emphases such as Children's Theatre and Acting Shakespeare are added
values. This position would include directing a minimum of one main stage production each academic year and possibly spearheading a touring
children's theatre company. The candidate must be prepared to take an active role in student advising; mentoring; the advising MA
culminating experiences and MFA Thesis/Creative projects; and regular participation on departmental, school, and university committees.

Department of Theatre Arts Costume Shop Manager
Under the direction of the Resident
Costume Designer/Artist-in-Residence, this person will manage a costume
shop in support of Theatre department productions.
Duties include but
are not limited to: supervise construction of costumes and costume
accessories for all productions; draft/drape patterns, both period and
contemporary based on the designer’s renderings; determine most
appropriate methods and techniques to be used for construction. Costume
Shop Manager
will supervise graduate assistants and temporary employees
and will be responsible for maintenance of equipment and storage
facilities. Must be able to
assist with establishing a budget for each
theatre production.
Qualifications: Prefer BFA or BA in
Theatre, Costume Design or related field and three years experience in
costume design, construction, alteration and repair;
must demonstrate
experience in a varied of hand and machine sewing techniques as well as
experience in draping and pattern-making. Knowledge of wigs,
millinery
or dying techniques a plus.
