Position Announcement
The Communication Arts Department of Oral Roberts University
invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment effective
August 2008. Rank is commensurate with education. Tenure Track
Position.
Primary Duties
The successful candidate will:
o
Assume the role of Scenic Designer and Technical Director for
the Theatre program as well as teach courses including
Introduction to Technical Production, Make up Design, Set Design,
and Lighting Design;
o
Advise and mentor undergraduate Theatre and Worship Arts
students;
o
Assist in the development of curriculum;
o
Scenic and Lighting Designer for 7 full scale productions to be
mounted during the 2008 / 2009 theatrical season; shows include a
large musical, an opera, and a tour show.
o
As Technical Director, supervises and assists in set
construction
o
Engage in professional development activities;
o
Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings,
committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services;
o
Embrace a whole-person commitment as articulated in the University’s
Code of Honor.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
o
Hold an MFA in Design, with the emphasis in scenic / lighting
design. A candidate
with a master’s degree in theatre who is committed to earning a
Masters of Fine Arts degree in design and has demonstrated
professional design experience will be considered;
o
Be innovative and successful in theatrical scene design as well
as teaching technical production / design courses
o
Demonstrate integrated faith in the classroom, church and
community.
