Bringing Scripture Alive: Getting Creative With The
Arts

This
workshop will inspire to bring Scripture alive in your
worship services. From the foundational basics to getting
creative with Reader’s Theatre, drama, movement, music, and
media. Your eyes will be opened to a variety of ways to
bring Scripture alive in a respectful, God-honoring way
using your Bible, your God-given gifts and your
imagination. Audience will participate.

Meet
Joanna, wife of Herod’s steward, Chuza, follower and friend
of Jesus of Nazareth. Experience the last week of Jesus’
life, his crucifixion, death and resurrection through the
eyes of Joanna in an original, one woman, musical drama
presented by Christian dramatist, singer, composer and
storyteller, Sam Kauffman.

a brief look at Christian involvement and rationale for
non-involvement in the theatre arts from Tertullien, the
Puritans, to the contemporary scene; and a peek into the

Northwestern College’s national touring theatre company will
demonstrate a prayer form in which words become image and
movement. For nearly a decade, they have been using this
powerful way of praying with congregations of ten people to
a thousand. This is a repeat of a popular workshop for past
CITA conferences.

movement motivates the character and conversely how

Rich Swingle, MA in theatre, emphasis on sociodrama. Rich
has authored 10 full-length dramatic works and directs

develop their scenes as a model to teach and learn how to
live in relationships with Christian Love.

interactive sessions will focus on a variety of areas for
the theatre artist and his/her spiritual journey. Based on
a revelation of the Person of Christ, sessions will include:
the Kingdom of God and the Artist, the Artists- “in this
world but not of it”; theatre and the Artist in the sight of
God- my life, my gifts, my ministry- how are they connected;
setting priorities that are pleasing to God. The structure
will allow for questions/answer and discussion.
